Thoughts a Couple of Months from Release

We are coming to the last days of the Steam Next Fest now which has performed very badly and I am trying to pick myself up from a negative hole. Wishlists have barely moved and we have gotten one new review which is a kid telling us that its a game for kids. I am trying to think where we can go from here if a demo that is free is so poorly received. How are we going to be able to charge for the full game and for that to have a good launch? It probably won't!

With this kind of a forecast, how can I keep up the energy to see out the project and get it over the line?

However, we had a team call yesterday where we planned out the last features that we had promised for our last batch of funding. We have some nice, focused ideas that don't blow up the scope.

We have had ideas around what are potential things that could turn the game around and get people excited about it again but they would be larger changes. This is the kind of work that we have to turn away from and just focus on getting what we have finished and out.

I am so low on energy for the game now, I really want to move on from it but we have to send it out. I haven't worked on it for almost 4 years to fumble it at the end. While it is almost impossible to ignore the numbers I think I have to look in a different direction to them for a while and just work on this for the sake of making something that I am happy in and to put that out into the world.
